FD 2020 Results

While browsing the web I noticed that the ARRL Intl DX CW contest is this weekend. (These things always have a way of sneaking up on me.) That reminded me that I never looked to see where I finished in the 2020 FD. I was surprised to see that I finished solidly in the top 100 of class 1B at #98, give or take a couple spots depending on how well I counted.

That's a nice little surprise. I didn't put forth a huge effort, but I did have quite a bit of fun in the process. Below is a photo I took of the event. It was comfortable out with just enough of a breeze that the air wasn't stagnant. Very low humidity and hardly any mosquitoes for that time of year. (Although the near-constant stream of cigar smoke combined with citronella may have been keeping them away.)

I most certainly won't be operating out-of-doors for this weekend's contest. While it'll be 40 degrees warmer than it was Tuesday, it'll still barely be above freezing. Plus there's two feet of snow on the patio.

Although, now that I think of it, if I were to throw a few logs in the fireplace, and wear an extra sweatshirt along with some hip waders for when the snow melt runs off... does one get bonus points for operating off batteries in the ARL DX test? Hrm...

(If you want to see the entire results, here's the PDF at the ARRL website.)
