Time to change my email address…

Our fine oh-so-non-biased friends over at Google have decided to take a stand on the gay marriage issue. Surprise surprise, they’re all for it.
However, while there are many objections to this proposition — further government encroachment on personal lives, ambiguously written text — it is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8. While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8 — we should not eliminate anyone’s fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love.
Farewell, Google. Your email and search services were well liked in my household. However, your foray into politics of a non-computer nature have crossed the line. I’ve tolerated your lack of recognition of certain holidays. I’ve put up with your privacy invasions. I’ve put up with your hypocritical “do no evil” catchphrase. Surprisingly, this has put me over the edge. I’ll now begin the long, arduous, drawn-out process of migrating my accounts away from Google. Boy, this should be fun.
