Radio Iowa: New Hartford residents wait to see if buy out is in the works
Residents of New Hartford in Butler County are waiting to see if the federal government will buy out parts of their town. The city was struck by a tornado on May 25th. Two weeks later all 659 residents of New Hartford were evacuated when flood waters surged through the area.
Why should the feds “buy out” properties in this town? Didn’t these people have insurance? If not, tough! The government is not here to protect you from nature. It’s here to make sure you have the ability to protect yourself from whatever you feel you need protected from.
