WHO TV - Des Moines: Father charged with murder in drowning deaths of 3 children
Baltimore police say a father has been charged with first-degree murder and child abuse after he confessed to drowning his three children in a hotel bathroom the night he was to return them to his estranged wife.
Mark Castillo of Rockville is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and six counts of child abuse. Police say he was charged about 1 p.m. Monday after being treated at a hospital for self-inflicted cuts to his neck.
Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld and Mayor Sheila Dixon have said the motive for the children’s deaths Saturday night is a mystery.
Court records indicate Castillo and his wife had disputes over the children, but Bealefeld says Mark Castillo had no criminal history.
Hrm… wonder if Katie Couric will be pressing lawmakers to “take it easy” on this guy like she did Andrea Yates. I doubt it.
