Suddenly, I Don’t Feel As Bad For You.

I’m in the midst of my usual weekday-off routine; do housework and homework while watching daytime TV. Right now, I’m watching Maury Povich. Today’s show is on sexual predators, peeping toms, etc. He’s currently interviewing a guest who was telling a story of being peeped on, stalked, and eventually raped. As if that weren’t bad enough, she found out that she was pregnant and caught an STD from the rapist. I felt horrible for this poor woman.
Then, she said she terminated the pregnancy. Suddenly, I don’t feel nearly as bad for her. I still empathize with her, but I feel much worse for that poor child that she murdered.
It’s one of those “touchy” situations that we all think about, I suppose. Many people who feel abortion is wrong are “okay” with it in cases such as this. I’m not. It wasn’t the fault of the child that she was raped. That child could have grown up to be a very important person, possibly learning something from his conception. Instead, his mother decided to make the situation worse, and combine getting raped with being a murderer.
